I have a swollen neck gland, white spots on my tonsils, and a very sore throat. What's wrong with me?I recently came down with a cold about a week ago that was accompanied by a sore throat. Two days ago I thought I was recovering because my tonsils began to itch. Boy was I wrong.. Before I went to bed I looked at my tonsils in the mirror. My left one had bumps on it while my right was really inflated. Not concerned I went to bed only to wake up to my right neck gland swollen, white spots on my right back tonsils, and a worse sore throat on both sides.

Today I feel really fatigued and I have the same conditions except my throat is only sore on my right side, my neck is swollen a little bit more, and it's becoming very uncomfortable to swollow. If I don't feel any better tomorrow I'll be making an appointment with my doctor. Before I go visit I was wondering if anyone might have a slight clue what this could exactly be. I don't think it's strep because that's followed with a fever and a rash.

Anything on what this could be, or some self care treatments would be great! Thank you
I'd also like to mention I have been gargling with salt water, and I've been taking Cepacol. I took ibuprofen last night and it made any discomfort I had disappear. I'm also really confused why it's only on my right tonsil when it started on my left. Oh, and I have been around people who have been sick with this weird flu.Could it be a possibility it could be that?

It sounds like you have strep throat. It needs to be treated by your doctor and won't get better on it's own. You should probably go today, since it's also really contagious.

Strep throat. You don't have to have a fever with it.

Strep throat is not always followed by a fever and a rash. It is very hard to diagnose such vague symptoms. You could be coming down with the flu, strep throat, or tonsillitis. All of these infections make it hard to swallow, may cause a sore throat and white patches on the tonsils. No matter what you should make an appointment with your doctoe, difficulty swallowing is a very severe symptom, that may need medical attention. For your swollwn lymph nodes and pain in your neck you can try warm compresses. Anti-imflammatories such as motrin, aleve, advil may help reduce the swelling. Do not take if you have any allergies to ibuprofen. You may need an antibiotic to treat this infection. I really hope this helps :)

It sounds like strep throat to however the white spots on your tonsils are probably pus pockets your will have to see a dr. so you can get antibotics to get rid of them.
