How to remove a tonsil stone without doing serious damage?I've got this thing in my throat. It seems like a tonsil stone, but I'm not sure what the hell I'm doing. When I reach back in my throat I can touch it, but it feels like flesh. When I remove my finger, it always smells like tonsil stone (horrible). How do I remove it without the potential to do damage to my tonsil when I can't tell the difference between tonsil stone and flesh?

A tonsil stone is a lump of white pus that has found its way to the surface of your tonsil. Its like a zit in your throat. If it's not white, it could be a tonsil stone that is underneath the surface of the tissue yet. I'm sure there are other causes of "lumps" in the throat, some of which will need medical care.
I do have tonsil stones myself, and while I'm not saying its safe, if I see a white stone on the surface of my tonsil, I will try to nudge it loose. I use a hairpin, not a bobby pin, but a U-shaped wire 2" long to hold a hair bun in place. But don't go digging around after one that is still under the tissue. I have gotten infection from doing that.
